Tried to interest my black friends and acquaintances in skiing. “We don’t do that” was the common answer.

At Heavenly a few years ago, I rode the lift up with a black gentleman from Nigeria (had lived in the U.S. for many years). He said he LOOOOVED skiing! He too expressed that his friends of color and family had no interest in doing it.

I’ve heard the same response from black friends and associates when asking about RV camping. I have observed very few blacks visiting campgrounds at state and national parks as well as private campgrounds so there may be some truth to the RV comment.
Or swimming in my experience.
Back in the 80s went snow skiing in Aspen....in 3 days only saw one black guy skiing .....it certainly was an anomaly.
