When I began my first career job, I noticed there was an older man working there, he was 70. Most everyone else there had retired before 60 as that was the requirement unless you asked to stay and it was approved. I asked one of his buddies why is he still here, surely he is maxed out on benefits, one based on years. His buddy said he wife divorced him some time ago and the divorce settlement was she got half his retirement. His comment was, she will never see a penny as I don’t plan to retire!
