The Small Faces, with Steve Marriott, blew away Rod’s Faces.

Saw them both (Small Faced once, Faces three times) Also saw Jeff Beck with Rod Stewart).

Small Faces were one of the first ‘psychedelic bands (itchy koo park). I preferred Stewart's vocals and Becks guitar work.

Many of the performers on Beck-Ola ant Truth, played together as Faces or with Rod on his solo albums.

IMHO- Rods best work was with Beck and on his solo albums (gasoline Alley, the Rod Stewart Album)
