They would have been rescued at least a dozen times if Gilligan hadn’t screwed it up anyway.

If they rebooted Gillian’s Island today, they would have to make the Skipper and Gillian gay, the Professor a global warming expert (love the show where the Professor thought the island was sinking, but Gillian used the stick to mark his fish traps), Ginger a typical Hollywood no talent liberal, The Howells as evil capitalists and Mary Anne as a conservative Trump loving crazy person (which is what we aren’t).
That is a show that looks much stupider today than when I watched it as a child.
One show that improved with time is "Hogan's Heroes". Now that I have a more full understanding of WW2 then when I was a child, I appreciate the basic premise of the show much more.

The cast of HH had Holocaust survivors and WW 2 veterans. The humor was bittersweet..

I get that when I watch The Flintstones, I CAN’T believe the stuff that just flew over my head when I watched as a kid, especially the early episodes.

They were rescued in a couple of TV movies.
They were hoping for a reboot like Hotel or Fantasy Island with the third TV movie, “Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan’s Island.”
All they got was a Saturday morning cartoon with some live action bits - “Gilligan’s Planet.”
