National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Dr. Anthony Fauci said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that he would not recommend the fully vaccinated go to restaurants during the Omicron surge of COVID.
Anchor Dana Bash asked, “How should vaccinated and boosted people behave? Can they go into a restaurant, eat safely indoors right now?”
Fauci said, “You know, when you’re having such a — I call it a tsunami of infections, Dana, we are seeing people who are vaccinated and boosted who are getting breakthrough infections. So when you’re in a situation where you have so many infections going out, the thing that you want to say is that, if you want to do things like that, better do them in a setting where you know the people around you are vaccinated and boosted.”
“That’s the reason why I’ve been saying when asked about the holiday season, the safest thing to do is to be in a home setting, friends, relatives who you know are vaccinated and boosted,” he continued. “If you want to go the extra step of safety, then get a quick antigen test, which will give you an extra degree of safety. What you want to avoid are places where you have 20, 30, 40, 50 people, many of whom you have no idea of whether or not they’re vaccinated or boosted.

My sister tested positive the day after Christmas. She had a little cough, but otherwise was fine on Christmas, figured it was from being outside in a Living Nativity for 4 nights in cold/wet weather.
My mom & step-dad were boosted 2 days before Christmas. They both had fevers and aches afterwards, but felt well enough to come over Christmas day. We had a mix of unvaxxed, vaxxed, and vaxxed/boosted, ages from 5 to 93.
Count in my family and friends — 2 definite positive tests (most of us aren’t going to bother trying to find unreliable tests). Almost everyone else (of 16 total) had at least a day or two with mild to moderate symptoms. My sister, daughter and 2 grandkids, mom & step-dad ran fevers, otherwise mostly reporting sore throats, runny noses & some sinus headaches - also dry coughs that have hung around longer than the other symptoms (but could be the dry, over-heated house too).
Other side of the same family, that we did not see, all got it right after their get-together, most are mild, one is having some problems, but he has serious co-morbidities. Almost all of them were vaxxed & boosted.
It’s just running through everyone — prayers & fingers crossed it stays mild and we get to undeniable herd-immunity!
Works for me. Better reservation times for the great steak restaurants.

He and Gates are racists of the worst original kind: they believe poor people with darker skins exist for them to abuse without consent. There is no worst kind of racist. They both use African and Indian people for testing or dumping their medications, without any form of consent.
Ours too. Our son is a front-line worker in the ER. Despite his jabs, he got COVID, right along with many in his department. He exposed us all at Christmas. As far as I know our younger son hasn't come down with it, but he's been really quiet the past few days, so I don't know for sure. He flew home right after Christmas. Hubs came down with it right away. I fought it off for a week but developed symptoms over the weekend. I'm just as glad to get it over with during the quiet holiday time when there are few commitments to be affected.
We see photos of our vaxxed friends traveling and going out to restaurants. We figure they'll be informing us they're infected too before long. Some already have. We're not freaked out. We upped our supplements and we're getting plenty of rest. We've both been through a round with one of the previous variants; we're burnishing our immune systems one bug at a time.
I wish they’d close all the parks again...so I can walk right in and ignore their yellow “CAUTION” tape and enjoy square miles to myself again.
