I use Tiles, and usually you have to pair it with your phone. If someone places it on your car, you can you know if indeed there is one there? There’s no way to pair it with your phone or detect it.
Airbags use Bluetooth AND UWB greatly extending range. The Airtag app gives you more precise and user friendly location services.
The big thing is that the Tile has to be within Bluetooth range of a phone using the APP and the user has turned on permission for unlinked Tiles to communicate back to the user.
The Airtag communicates back to the owner through iPhones by default, no app required.
So, there are MANY more phones within range and communicating locations.
The chance of having a phone with the Tile app installed and permissions turned on within Bluetooth range is small.
The chance of an Airtag which also uses UWBA being within range of any iPhone is very high.
If you have an iPhone, you’ll be warned a foreign tag is following you.
