You can hear on the video responders asking for tranquilizers. None available.

Exactly - why shoot a feral criminal for doing what criminals do.

Listening to the audio sounds like the animal was doing just that. The screams will haunt you.

It’s another reason I never really have been a fan of zoos in the first place.

Zoos are a very 19th century institution. Most western people couldn't travel, but their governments had colonies overseas, and they could bring back exotic animals for show.

Now with both mass travel and electronic media, zoos will slowly disappear.

And I wish bulldogs that attack little toddlers rip their little arms off, after all, they are going what bulldogs do. /sarc

Vet interns, trainees, many work in zoos for a start in the business.

No expert here but willing to bet your life and limb that the tiger would let go when zapped, after all, we see feral thugs shake off a taser all the time.

THis wasn't a toddler nor bulldog. This was a so-called trained adult cleaner who should have known better. There’s no fixing stupid

He was authorized to clean there but not to stick his arm in

Btw

Tigers and lions

Makes especially

Stink horribly

They cover themselves in their pee

To spread scent

Stronger scent more virility

So they feel it seems

Even skilled trainers have been attacked by these animals, but you might be right he had done so before and had a false sense of security to do so again.

I often see Zoo Keepers as babysitters to dangerous animals. They basically clean up poop, wash and tend to the animals...and hopefully sustain a safe distance. Routine vet visits to keep them healthy. Other than specialists who study animals there’s not much more they do.

I went to a big cat rescue place a few years ago between cave junction and grants pass Oregon

They rescued big cats there from Bob cats and caracols to big tigers and a black maned male lion

Some cougars and leopards and cheetah

I was most impressed by the jaguars

The muscularity

But the urine smell on all the big males was intense like from twenty yards away

Plus the tiger cage was tall and that tiger could sure jump way up

They had a cougar and a cheetah they posed with folks

That would have been interesting for those who enjoy zoos. I went to one in my lifetime and that was enough for me. I refer seeing them in their natural habitant. You can actually ride on Safaries live on line now.

If u stick your hand in a Tiger Cage, don’t get angry when a Tiger bites it.
The Tigers death COULD have been prevented, as well as the injury to the
idiot. How hard is that to understand?

These were rescue cats

It’s either that or euthanize

The enclosures had special care to make as large and natural as possible

Some were several acres

Some were enclosed for quarantine etc

Zoos today often are not exactly the prisons we remember from the 60s

With a silverback smoking a ciggie hanging on his tire

Sad

But I’ll admit that gorilla had a personality

When he got really and dying he had a lot of visitors

That adored him

I get your point

Some captive animals get quite large given lack of threats and more food and live much longer

I think beasts that are allowed more human contact with a trainer are happier

If that’s an accurate emotive description than those simply caged for exhibitions

Most zoo animals are not dogs who are dependent on human interaction

I don’t have an easy answer

Ambivalent

The zoo I went to were not caged for the most part. It actually had a walkway out into a field where various animals roamed about. An Ostrich actually came right up to the walk way, I was stunned how huge they are and so comical in their body frames. I’ve often said to the Lord when viewing his created creatures...”What were you thinking when you had these in mind”......

Since the computer age I’ve traveled around the world seeing animals I never even knew existed. Some of the most unusual and bizarre creatures....and comical. Some of the birds courting behavior and how they puff their wings and bodies is stunning! Then there are those who travel in packs and others solo. Gods creation is just amazing and intriguing.
