Hope everyone that got bit got their rabies shot!
The RSPCA should have waited to euthanize the critter until it determined that it did not have rabies.
That was my first thought - acting crazy, rabies ....
But evidently not ....

“Small rodents (like squirrels, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, chipmunks, rats, and mice) and lagomorphs (including rabbits and hares) are almost never found to be infected with rabies and have not been known to transmit rabies to humans.”
Squirrels don't get or transmit rabies.
