Sen. Durbin on filibuster reform: "It has to be done for the good of this country. [...] If we don't change the rules to go back to a Senate that truly debates and legislates and responds to the needs of America, then it's going to be a great misfortune for this country."

...responds to the needs of America...

He's a Democrat.
Democrats respond to the political needs of Democrats.

The filibuster is stopping Democrat's/*OTUS bills from being passed.
The filibuster has got to go...until they're the minority party again.
Democrats will then demand that the filibuster be put back in place.

The Senate is broken, but not because of the filibuster. It is broken because Senators are elected by popular vote and therefore function the same as the House. They are supposed to be representing the individual states, hence appointed by the State Legislatures until that most horrible year in America, 1913.

Turbin Durbin - one of the most corrupt Senators in US History. Even the Left Wing Chicago Tribune couldn’t find a reason to endorse the POS.

Problem is, the Illinois GOP can’t dig up anyone to run against Durbin.

Thank you, no. They are perfectly willing to vote to socialize the country knowing their policies will never be reversed. If socialism is locked in, it doesn’t matter if they get reeelcted

maybe dickie is starting to realize that if and when the Republicans regain control, they will wreak havoc on the democratic agenda for at least 2 years, and more if a Republican wins the White House. Dickie is one of them who has shown the Repubs how to abuse the power.

"Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. "

Somebody who was cancelled said this.

Here’s the reform I’d like to see.
1. Every bill has an “author.”
2. Must be in you seat listening to the “debate” on new legislation.
3. Able to ask the “author” questions. For example: How did you decide on the $ amount? (or % amount)?
4. Recorded vote, taken electronically with-in 2 minutes.
5. Members who vote against a bill are required to submit for publication, a max 2 page listing of their specific objections to a bill.

The Republicans should take the demoncraps up on their offer about 2 days before the 2022 elections. See if they really mean what they say.

Dick Durbin, the face of Illinois Democrat corruption, has a motto he lives by:

No morals. No ethics. No principles. No qualms. No problem.

As much as I hate to give Dems helpful suggestions, I'll tell him the same thing I tell the Republicans: you don't need to eliminate the filibuster, you need to enforce it.

No more postal reply card filibusters. If you want to delay a vote on legislation to debate it then debate it. Hold the floor and tell the world what is wrong with the bill. And if your opponent wants to delay the vote through debate then respond and show the country what is good with the bill. If it is that good, then taking a week for the "world's greatest deliberative body" to deliberate it should only increase public support. But if your bill cannot stand up to public debate, then maybe you were in error trying to take a feces cake, slapping on some chocolate icing and telling us it is too delicious to wait even five minutes to buy it.

He is not covering the alternative like when the Texas legislature bailed the state to stop the vote on the abortion laws. And the funny thing is that the feds are already in a territory and not a state so they can just go to their rental apartment and door dash until the system breaks down rather than filibuster (at party expense). Texas set a precedence here because of the way the GOP handled it.

He’s really saying we need to change the rules so we can get our way. The current rules are for when we aren’t in power. We can go back to them when we lose power.........fool.

This is proof that the country as founded has been vanquished. New York and West Virginia are so different, what’s good for a city state isn’t exactly what’s best for a rural state and yet NY and WV Senators, for all intent and purpose, vote in lock step. No one is actually representing their states. They represent the team. Unless Senators are going to be appointed like in the past it’s only a matter of time before it’s all entrenched. Who is going to campaign on getting rid of free stuff with today’s media?
