The only major piece of service that the Model S has undergone, according to Carlson, was a battery replacement.

Oh. And how much was that battery replacement? And where does this guy live? I bet he doesn't live in Detroit or anywhere where the climate is unfavorable 8 months out of the year.

Look, EVs can be a fine vehicle, in the right conditions, but for the vast majority of Americans EVs don't make sense, no matter how much PR garbage they keep putting out.

Lots of used diesel pickups on the market with 3-500,000 miles with the original power train

Depends on how and where you use any vehicle

Bottom line: the cheapest estimate for an out-of-pocket, uncomplicated battery replacement on the Model S should run at about $12,000-$13,000 for the battery, $100-200 for miscellaneous parts, and $500-600 for labor. This puts the grand total at around $13,000-14,000.

I’m not going to pretend that I know anything about cars other than when I don’t drive mine, the battery will need charging. Look at what this poor guy was up against in Finland...Haven’t heard any rebuttal from Tesla...

The first battery replacement was under warranty ... a fantastic deal if one can get it.
