It was way the hell north on the great circle route — I imagine HNL would have been a longer trip. Also a lot of pissed of passengers to stick them in HNL, at least Sea-Tac gives you some options and is a delta base IIRC

It is just kinky — I see what you re saying...it looks as 287 originates in Sea-TAC and arrives ICN then continues on to the next stop —
But 9 hours and over 50% of the way there it must have been something remarkable.

Do a search on “great circle”. It’s the shortest distance between two points on the surface of a sphere. Hawaii is way out of the way.
