Are you sure the amount of iodine is correct? I just made the mixture and only 1 teaspoon of the 10% iodine and it’s pitch black. I can’t imagine 2 teaspoons or 2 and 1/2 teaspoons as you mentioned. I’ll wait before trying. Judging by the color I would think 2 teaspoons per quart or even gallon…
hi blue. used table salt. yes, 2.5 teaspoons per cup of water (which 48 teaspoons as i looked up) of 10% is pretty minimal. the color is there of course. it’s not pitch black though by any means. so we’re talking about 5 teaspoons to get to a 1% solution (48/5 = 9 remainder 3) so 2.5 teaspoons would be about .4% or not even 1%.
the dilution factor for 1% solution would be 9 teaspoons water for 1 teaspoon 10% povidone.
1% is recommended by a frontline doctor. she says to drop it into your nose on your back. hold it for a while then swallow. so i’ve changed over to that method.
