“ But I’ve been wrong before. Could happen again.”
******************

Yeah……. Sure could.
Fossil fuel is a finite resource. So, eventually it will diminish to a point where it will be too expensive to burn as fuel. But, that won’t happen anytime soon. Battery technology has been ever so slowly over the past 100 years. And, there is not a revolutionary breakthrough on the horizon. However, by merely converting power plants to natural gas leaves plenty of environmental opportunity until the big breakthrough occurs. In the meantime it’s my guess there will be other clean power sources brought on-line that will relegate battery power back to the trash heap of history where it belongs.
Btw, one power source I’m keeping an eye on is hydrogen power. Has several advantages over battery power.

I note a bunch of folks on this thread do not think there will ever be such as electric cars.

For which I disagree and unless you work for the Democrats, you can’t make me agree.

Lookit, back when I was a young woman I worked for a company called AT&T, for the manufacturing arm called Western Electric. I worked there 15 years.

We put the curl in the curly cords and jackets on the black wires that hooked to telephone poles coast to coast.

This was in Baltimore, former home of Nancy Pelosi, my childhood friend.

If you had told me that someday I would carry my phone in my pocket, that I would send messages and email upon same, that I would watch movies and TV shows on the thing, I’d have guffawed at the notion.

So I do not mock electric cars....I really think that they will be the new way to propel ourselves around.

I do not reject the idea just because I prefer the curl in the cord and hate to see it go. I do not reject the idea because my smaller mind cannot see it in the future. Well what the hell, I didn’t see movies on my telephone in a litlle 6x8 inch square either. I wanted my push button dialer to keep doing the job.

It’s going to happen as I see it. Some of you mentioned hydrogen and other possible forms of energy. Well if you had told me that the same little phone showing me movies would be charged by me putting it on an electric cord that it will then be useful for almost a day, shucks I’d have been here on FreeRepublic telliing you all were nuts.

I ain’t arguing about it anymore.

It will happen and with time, as these things go to the dismay of many Freepers, it will be improved, neat and cheaper forms of charging will be in our houses and along out highways.

I’m sticking to my story as I recall 15 years of quality assurance putting curl in cords and even making wires that went under the ocean.

I would never have believed that curly cords would ever go away, much less watching TV on a telephone that fits in my pocket.
