Haven’t Presidents traditionally tucked the v.p. away in a closet, somewhere out of the way? You know; like, putting them in charge of “air quality” in Antarctica. lol
“Haven’t Presidents traditionally tucked the v.p. away in a closet, somewhere out of the way?”
In the early days of the Republic the winner of the election became President, the runner up (first loser) became Vice President, even though they weren’t likely to get along.
John Adams, the first VP and second President called the job of VP “completely insignificant”.
During Adams team as President his VP was Thomas Jefferson, the loser of the election. Jefferson did everything he could to undermine Adams. Thus the tradition of a out of sight/out of mind VP.
