The incident took place around 11:45 a.m. near the intersection of Victory and Laurel Canyon boulevards, according to the Los Angeles Police Department, at a Burlington department store that’s part of a chain formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory.
Police initially received a call about an assault with a deadly weapon, then received additional calls indicating there was a shooting in progress...
One of the people who died was the suspect, who was shot and killed by police, according to LAPD.
The second person was a 14-year-old girl, who was found later, according to LAPD Assistant Chief Dominic Choi
When officers were shooting at the suspect, one of the officer’s rounds penetrated a wall that was behind the suspect. Beyond that wall was a dressing room, and when officers searched the dressing room, they found the girl had been fatally struck by the gunfire...
Additionally, the woman who was assaulted by the suspect had moderate-to-serious injuries to her head, arms and face, police said. She was taken to a trauma center. It wasn’t immediately known if she’d been shot.
Police said they found a heavy metal cable lock near the suspect, but it was not yet clear what weapon he used when assaultimg the woman.

They will excuse this because police officer did the shooting.
If a ccw did the shooting it would not be excused/forgiven and that persons life would be destroyed.
Terrible shame for the child and her family. A cautionary tale for conservatives still living in Californication: leave soon.
Time to burn down the city...I guess.
I don’t know about that. These days they would probably put the cop on trial for negligent homicide…. Manslaughter.
You got it bro.
Deez poh-leece are killin’ oura kidz!!
When I was growing up in the Valley in the late 60’s, North Hollywood (not to be confused with the more famous Hollywood, a different city 9 miles away and on the other side of the mountains) was a premier shopping area. Now it’s a gang-ridden wasteland. Hollywood these days isn’t exactly a garden spot either. The glitz and the glitter are long gone.
I lived in North Holyywood briefly in the late 70s. It already wasn’t all that great a place.
Where one lives matters.
Unfortunately 14 year-olds have no choice in the matter.
“These days they would probably put the cop on trial for negligent homicide….”
And they should.
L
CCW’s are usually very careful with thier shots.
40 years ago, I would agree with you.
But there is some additional computation here.
What is the race of the victim. White? No problem. Transgender? Uh oh, not good for cop. Unless cop is a minority other than Asian, white, or a real African. Unless he is a white South African. Now, was the perp a minority, other than the three exempt minorities? This could cancel out some minorities exemptions... wait, what were we talking about again?
It’s like filling out a 1040a.
They should use glaser rounds instead of shooting innocents through walls 🤪
I don’t trust my “peers” anymore.
I am going to try really hard to avoid anything that could possibly result in me being subject to a jury of my “peers”.
And that certainly includes firing my pistol into a Burlington Coat Factory. I don’t care if the dude’s about to drop a vial of mutated Anthrax. Hollywood’s on it’s own, I’m out.
At that time the best thing going there was B&B Guns on Oxnard Street. During the North Hollywood shootout in 1997 B&B was tapped by LAPD to lend some AR-15 firepower.
That cop's life is probably destroyed. And it should be.
As strange as it may seem, most police do not feel very good about shooting a 14-year-old innocent bystander. Neither do their colleagues, and they shun the wild shooters.
His career is probably done. His life probably ends in a bottle.
None of that is due to official proceedings, of course.
The glitz and glitter are still in Hollywood. It’s just that now it’s worn by all the queers living there.
That headline is too flipping confusing.
Yep, two tiers: ‘justice’ and ‘just-us’. Hypocrites.
