That’s weird. Why the unnecessary maneuver using VFR?
Most likely lost Situational Awareness. Common during an IFR to VFR transition especially if the VFR is marginal (rain). It is a relatively tight area: approach turn stall due to loss of SA in terminal area.
Apparently the other runway was longer, he wanted that one. However, it was unnecessary for him to yank and bank at such low altitude, he musta been in a hurry. ATC was vectoring him straight in, he shoulda stuck with the IFR plan. ‘85 Lear Jet is not easy to fly slow, you can stall one at quite high airspeed.
