I think this is the real future of hydrocarbons. The carbon can be collected or a raw source, like plants, can be collected, and broken down to carbon.

Then, using solar and wind and nuclear and whatever else, create hydrocarbon fuel that can be trucked off the plant site, like it currently takes places.

Doing it this way makes carbon a set value on the environment and it is infinitely renewable.

Making hydrocarbons is no big deal. The germans were doing it on an industrial scale in WW2. Do it at a profit without government subsidies on a fair economic playing field and I’ll be impressed.
