98% of Denmark is vaccinated.

This means the 2% unvaccinated population is accounting for 24% of all the cases right now. Absolutely compelling reason to get vaccinated. Also, while the vaccine does not prevent infections, it means your body has a resource ready to fight the infection, so that on average it will be less serious.

Curse you, Bayes' Theorem!

  98% of Denmark is vaccinated

That was my first question when I saw the article. To see how effective the vaccine is you need to know that fact.

Data I am seeing shows Denmark at 81% vaccinated. Also, those numbers and the infection rate numbers are questionable in light of scandals in other EP countries. For example, it has recently come out that Germany has been over counting vaxxed and has frequently been counting people with unknown vaxx status as invaded.

Your best case scenario for vaxx efficacy is that 19% of the Danish population is causing 24% of non-omicron and only 10% of omicron infections. Seems like a wash.

That's a bad argument because it, by default, admits obvious vaccine failure.

Unvaccinated infection rate probably didn't change any from what it always was. Are diphtheria, mumps, measles, smallpox breakthough vaccine breakthrough rates as high as covid breakthough cases? Obviously not.

Omicron just might be the vaccine the other covid vaccines wish they were.

What I'm seeing with #Omicron.
1) Everyone will be exposed in next few weeks.
2) Almost everyone gets a mild form of common cold. Trivial hospitalization. Trivial oxygenation needed.
3) Omicron replaces Delta.
4) Omicron acts as a natural vaccine, Herd immunity.
4) End pandemic.— Afshine Emrani MD FACC (@afshineemrani) December 21, 2021

“This means the 2% unvaccinated population is accounting for 24% of all the cases right now.”

So, do we conclude that hospitals are being overrun by the ignorant antivax conspiracy theorists and religious fanatics that represent that 2%? Or maybe that 2% is dominated by people that were too sick or frail to get vaccinated in the first place. I don’t know. Perhaps you do.

No, it probably means that there are lots of asymptomatic folks who are vaccinated.

IF the vaccines drop in efficacy week-over-week, as has been reported (hence the ‘boosters’), I would expect the percentages of vaccinated to increase over time. This is just a snapshot.

That said, everyone seems to forget that the STARTING POINT for survival is 99.9+%. The vaccine only adds a couple more 9’s. To me, that is the problem, we’re arguing over a small absolute benefit. While the relative benefit may seem high the absolute improvement isn’t that much - yet places are implementing insane policies over it.

As usual, subsequent ‘variants’ become less lethal. It’s possible that due to the Omicron being less lethal - the usefulness of a vaccine becomes the worst choice given the known adverse effects and long term unknowns, just get natural immunity.

These numbers are still just cases, not deaths. For every death ‘saved’ by the shot, which is not many as a percent of cases, you have to consider the adverse effects, and deaths, the shot caused to save those lives. What is the delta?

We should all be ignoring the authorities and go back to living our lives. The vaccine is no ‘savior’. If this were Smallpox with 30% mortality, which drops to zero deaths after a vaccine, where there’s almost no adverse reactions, everyone would basically take the vaccine. People have a good reason to not take this one, because COVID/Omicron is no Smallpox and the vaccine has much higher risks. Coercing children to take it is criminal, which is where this is going.

” Absolutely compelling reason to get vaccinated. “

Really? That is your conclusion? How about some one is lying about the numbers.
