On what basis? 49 out of 50 states have "at-will" employment, meaning you can be fired for wearing yellow socks to work if your employer doesn't like yellow socks. Obvious exceptions are inherent, immutable characteristics like race and sex. What really hurts is the Republican party was the one who pushed at-will employment in the 80's.
