The very first group (which included Ray Epps) to approach the Capitol breached the outer security barricades (100 yards or more from the Capitol itself) long before Trump was finished speaking and well before the Proud Boys arrived. They removed the fencing and no-trespassing signs so that people who arrived later wouldn't even know it was a restricted area. The ordinary Trump supporters who arrived later were like cattle being led to slaughter.

That place where the barricades were initially breached was protected by only five police officers.
