The Money Pit never existed apart from folklore. The alternative is, modern technology and over a century of continual searches have been defeated by unknown persons using block and tackle and ropes slung from a tree limb.
Probably used to be, the items were probably uncovered piecemeal, but unrelated unknown parties, by accident long ago, or have ceased to exist.
Probably carried off to Babylon, and/or incinerated; also possibly, was hidden and those who hid it failed to pass on the location..

The 2nd chapter of the 2nd book of Maccabees tells WHERE the Old Testament Ark of the Covenant was hidden. According to the Bible passage cited above, the Old Testament Ark of the Covenant is in a covered-up cave on Mt Nebo in the Kingdom of Jordan, coordinates 31.765095 degrees N by 35719079 degrees E, just NE of the Dead Sea. It was carried just over 24 miles from Jerusalem, when Jerusalem was about to be conquered & destroyed, including the 1st Temple, by the Babylonians, about 586 BC. Q.E.D.
