On Tuesday evening, a Connecticut school board meeting turned violent during a debate about a “racially insensitive” mascot.
The incident took place during a special school board meeting in the Glastonbury High School auditorium.
The meeting was set to debate dropping the school’s new team name, “the Guardians,” and bring back the previous name “the Tomahawks,” which was deemed insensitive by some.

I dunno. Kinda looks like the Board member had the parent backed up against the chairs, and the parent wouldn’t back up any further.
So, they were in each others’ faces, if you will. If you don’t want a confrontation, back away. I’ve stood and grinned at someone in my face. Made ‘em mad. Sort of like the kid and the Indian Chief in Washington.
So tell me. What race is a tomahawk?
it is a stone age tool (axe) made from flint and wood, tied together with leather. Made worldwide by innumerable different societies. No race involved
Therefore, it must be the word, and it is native American origin. However, many native American words have been incorporated into our language of daily use. Milwaukee & Wisconsin both are native American as Massachusetts. Now if I were native American that would be offensive.
We had about 300 native American languages and we selected one word from one tribe to name the tomahawk. Therefore only that tribe may claim that it’s use is offensive. Everyone else just go away.
I always thought Effingham, Illinois, H.S. should have chosen The Hammer for their nickname....The Big Effing Hammers.
and intro to the story the news readers just had to say “we are working to see if chargers will be filed” nice bit of biased propaganda
