There are no athletic scholarships in the Ivy League. When you attend an Ivy League school you will be exposed to bizarre absurd things.

Did I mention athletic scholarships? NOPE.

The athletic ability of some kid from the middle class who can play a sport, combined with legitimate academics, will get them an academic scholarship or some other financial assistance that will enable that same middle class kid who plays lacrosse or ice hockey, for example, to go to an Ivy League school that his/her father, who is a cop/plumber/electrician, wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford. Otherwise, there’d be no sense in the coaches from the various sports to travel the country, to recruit high school athletes as the lacrosse coach from Cornell did with me. They find the money in other ways.

As for being exposed to bizarre things, it isn’t just going to happen at an Ivy League college. My alma mater, UMASS/Amherst, is about as bizarre as it can get. Wasn’t too bad when I went there but has steadily declined over the years.
