Modern movies suck because the writers are all out of ideas and since they have absolutely no knowledge of classical literature or history, they have nothing to draw on. Except comic books, which along with video games, which comprise the total sum of their cultural and historical knowledge.

The interesting truth about your point is that the original writers of those comic books DID know classical literature and history. That is why their stories sold.

However the ones who are trying to copy those same heroes have no idea where to go with them.

Thirty five years ago Siskel and Ebert wondered the same thing, why there are no new story lines in movies.

Sislkel pointed out that the early movie makers were raised on great literature, and made movies of great literature.

and that today’s movie makers were raised on comic books.
