I read your comment and thought to when reading ‘Atlas Shrugged’ and the weapon they demonstrated. Not like they already don’t have that up there. I remember reading the idea that a rail gun from orbit is what caused the explosion at the port in Shanghai - or maybe a hypersonic weapon. I can’t remember if it was 2020 or 2021.
Same here. NASA has become nothing more than a bloated bureaucracy jobs agency. Their SLS is decades behind schedule like the Webb, they don’t have space suits or a lunar lander ready to go even if they could get the SLS to actually fly. It wouldn’t surprise me to see this telescope go boom on the pad or go flying off into oblivion.
They should have put their money in their space craft and suits and used the heavy launch vehicles in use already for their boosters.
I’ve long given up the thought of this thing ever making it to orbit.
