I blame Nixon.

When they allowed companies to sell you health insurance as a benefit, you never saw the actual costs anymore.

I don’t get my car insurance from my company. I don’t get my homeowners insurance from my company. What do I get my health insurance?

And I just got a new contract from the new company and they want $415 a week. Before Osh*thead I used to pay $350 a month.

Because of this I’ve gone without health insurance for those years. And I paid out-of-pocket. And we’re talking a broken arm, several hospital visits, plus major dental for me and my children. And I still estimate I’ve saved over $50,000.

I’m currently making more than I ever have in my life and half of it is going to the government. I could have bought each of my children a house in the last six years, For what I’ve given to the government.

I could have paid off my house in five years, instead I had a 20 year mortgage, because of taxes taken by the government.

unlike your other insurance items, with health insurance you pay for whether you may live or die, if very ill. It’s very personal, you are paying for your life and body’s well being, whereas your other insurance policies are for loss of concrete items that can be replaced You yourself can’t be exchanged for a clone of yourself. There’s only one you. Bit of a difference there, wouldn’t you say?

And wasn’t it Pelosi that squashed a bill that would have allowed individuals to deduct premiums the same way the corporations do?

And, once again, President Trump tried to do something about this and was able to, somewhat. Without any help from Congress. And what happened? The healthcare industry went nuts.

Although, prior to Soetero’s disastrous plan, I went on the, ehealthinsurance, site and found very good coverage for $150-200 a month, with a higher deductible. With regards to pre-existing conditions, I was told that any medication for that condition comes out of pocket for the first year after that, if I got the prescription plan, insurance helps. Any hospitalizations or treatments would be covered from Day 1. Based on that, I’m thinking that argument was at least a little bit of a lie from the beginning. Of course, having something like asthma as opposed to heart disease & diabetes, is a bit different.

I retired recently and I am now signed up for COBRA insurance.
I have been looking at other insurance plans. Blue Cross as an example for Gold is $747 a month.

Cobra is $806 for the same insurance as I had with the past company for half the cost. I now have to pay full cost of the plan. It is good for 18 months and I should then be eligible for Medicare which I do not know much about.

I am still comparing what the bronze, silver, gold, platinum plans cover. There is also coverca for California and CaliforniaChoice, HealthMarkets, Health Net etc.

I want to know what I would pay for some illness and stay in a hospital. I am lucky that I am in good health and only need dental.
