One reason I am quiet about my libertarian politics when my faculty lounge progressive daughter and commie son-in-law are around me... They are not yet 30. If they persist in such foolishness for longer than 3 more years, I will have to accept the bitter truth that I raised a moron.

Yea, I was raised in a very conservative home, but rebelled when I went to college and embraced a very liberal outlook, maybe due to the people I was around, or the age. As I slid into my 30’s and saw how the world worked, or when it failed to work, I gravitated back to the middle, and then even further right. By my 40s I was back to pretty traditional conservative, like my parents.

The school of hard knocks has the best chance of curing leftists—but of course it is no guarantee.

If they were my relatives I would do nothing to ease their way—they need to build character and adversity is the only chance it will happen.
