State police say they cited a juvenile after catching him driving 160 mph on Interstate 94 in Lake County over the weekend.

An Illinois State Police District 15 trooper observed a gray Audi traveling at a high rate of speed around 9:55 p.m. Sunday, according to Illinois State Police Trooper Genelle Jones

Jones said the driver was a male juvenile from Mount Prospect. He was cited for speeding 35 mph over the limit, a Class A misdemeanor. The juvenile was released on a $2,500 I-Bond and was not taken to jail for confinement, Jones said.

It’s the Illinois statute, anything 35 mph (or more) above the speed limit is felony speeding.

Maybe this kid has early onset impotence.

I suspect the car belonged to one of his parents.

They should have cited him, taken the car and left him on the side of the road...

I assumed my Q7 could come close, but not sure an A4 could do it.

“It’s the Illinois statute, anything 35 mph (or more) above the speed limit is felony speeding.”

Class A Misdemeanor:

35 miles per hour or more over the limit. Class A misdemeanor and carries up to one year in jail and a maximum $2,500 in fines.

—”The kid was only doing 160? Try this one out. “

That was from Alabama and a few years back.
The road looked to be in fair shape.
Here in Illinois, new roads do not look that good.
And the state highway maintenance crews have been working from home on zoom...

Yes, can be difficult to determine if they are sleeping in the orange truck or in front of the zoom camera?

A family member of mine bowered my old Ford Taurus wagon once & got a ticket for going 105 mph. I was amazed the wagon could pull that kind of speed...

Had to be an RS model, most Audi’s are limited to 155mph in the states.

That's what i want to know, which Audi?

My domestic dodge cuts the fuel off at 128, or so I've heard.😄..

Its not the car that's the problem, its the tires. If they aint in good shape and z rated, 160mph could get you killed after one blows or shreds.

The kid has some active guardian angels for sure , at that speed you don’t have a car accident, you have an airplane accident.....

“WHICH MODEL AUDI???”

Based on my experience with Audi’s, it will not be doing that in a few years.

I guess you have never experience ‘float’ at high speed?

It’s (Audis) the car middle-agers buy when they lose their libido and need to compensate.

Does it work? Asking for a friend.

Believe it or not, I started to respond with the very same point in mind (the tires).

From having driven in Germany (in an A6, among other vehicles, and no, not that fast), my understanding is that most of the high-end German cars will reach 160 MPH; it's the tires that are cause for concern. (Somebody described a trip on the Autobahn to me in an E-Class where he got a warning about the tire rating across the windshield once he accelerated through 150.)

The governors they might put on for cars sold here are a different story. But I have no doubt that most of the high-end German cars can reach 160 without breaking a sweat.
