A MAN has been arrested after the Christmas tree at Fox Square in New York City was allegedly set on fire.
Firefighters were at the scene working to contain the blaze outside the Fox News building in midtown Manhattan shortly after midnight on Wednesday.
NYPD told The US Sun that a man was arrested after allegedly lighting the tree on fire.
The suspect has been identified as 49-year-old Craig Tamanaha, who is homeless, with a last known address in Brooklyn. A lighter was found in his possession.
Police said that Tamanaha climbed up the tree, lit papers that he brought with him on fire and shoved them into the tree. He then climbed down and watched as the 50 ft tree burned down.
According to local reports, Tamanaha has three prior arrests, two for drug possession and one for public intoxication.

He should not be prosecuted, he was just starting a little fire to keep himself warm on a cold night. In fact the city DA needs to fine Fox News for not providing a warming tent for the man, along with hot tea and cookies for him to snack on while warming himself.

I think a fitting punishment would be to place him in a harness and suspend him like an ornament from the replacement tree for a while.
My previous post was pure sarcasm, for those who might think I was serious.
If this had happened at say CNN or MSNBC they would have already blamed it on a “White Supremacist”

That’s not germane to this situation.
Nobody wants a national insane asylum for the deranged. And states do not want to shell out the money to support state insane asylums. So the best bet now is to create *regional* insane asylums through compacts between states.
Hard to get into and hard to get out of, one state would host, and the other states would pay two fees: a membership fee and a per inmate fee.
A local or county doctor who had examined the person would start the process, the inmate would then be examined by a board of three other doctors. If adjudged insane, he would then be examined by a different board of three state doctors, and if they agreed, he would be sent to the asylum, to be reviewed by a board of doctors from the other states.
The asylum itself would be subdivided, with one part for the criminally, dangerously insane; another for treatable under confinement; another part for both mentally and physically ill; etc.

Perhaps it’s a laugh of relief that the tree wasn’t inside the building.

It’s a trend I guess. Tree in Jack London Square (in Oakland, near San Francisco) also set on fire. Attack on Christmas/Christ symbolism IMO. If Fox put it up, so much the better for the arsonist I suppose.
