Or, get a gun and shoot any SOB that tries to steal your car.

“...call the police if you see anything suspicious”.
That right there is funny.

Yet another reason to NOT buy a new car. At least with a physical key, the thief was slowed down a bit. Electronic keys are too easily spoofed if you have access to the OBD port.

If you have an air tag of your own hidden in your vehicle, you will get an alert if another is present.

Make sure the camera is set to monitor your car both day and night, and call the police if you spot anything suspicious. As if the police will do anything.

I had NO idea that thieves could use the OBD Port to clone a key until I read this article. The article mentions ODB Port locks, so I searched for that and, bingo, found a bunch of them.
Here's one:
It clamps around the OBD port making it very difficult for anyone to access the OBD port. It will take a lot of time to be able to break this off or drill it out. The main body is full aluminum but the top plate is made of hardened steel to make it harder to drill out. It also has an anodized coating to weatherproof it.
Just don't lose your OBD Port lock key.

So basically spend a lot of money to setup your own security and continue to pay high taxes to governments that fail in their basic duty of stopping criminal behavior.
How about we just lock up criminals and hang habitual offenders.

Believe it or not, where I live people still leave the keys in their cars and do not lock the front door to their homes.

Agreed—where you live is critically important.
Those who have never lived in truly crime-free areas have no idea what they are missing.

How does one use a screwdriver to enter and not leave damage that would be visible?

Good to know in case I ever drive my own car in Canada. I wonder if a 9-year-old Mazda3 would be considered a “high end” car? Let’s hope American criminals don’t learn from the Canadian ones.
