Reminds me of the old age old question, why did the chicken cross the road? Of course the answer is to prove to the possum that it could be done.
I once saw a wildlife film of a bobcat attacking a possum. As the bobcat was making his run, the possum jumped quite high straight up! The bobcat overran the possum’s former position, confused, the possum came down and quickly scampered into a hidey-hole.
This jumping action was likely developed over many 10s of thousands of years of evolution.
Then Man came along. That instinctive jumping action to escape a predator put the possum right in the middle of the grill of an attacking Ford or Chevy!
