Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie helped build Donald Trump up in the 2016 presidential primary and now he’s trying to tear him down before the 2024 election.
He says it’s time for the Republican Party to move on from the boisterous former president and his stolen election claims.
The blunt ex-prosecutor and governor has been test-driving his anti-Trump message as part of a public relations blitz around the release of his new book “Republican Rescue,” separating himself from the lion’s share of Republicans who still hail Mr. Trump as their unquestioned leader.
But Mr. Christie is trying to pull off a high-wire act with “a lot of downsides,” said Ross Baker, a politics professor at Rutgers University in New Jersey.
“They include alienating Trump and incurring his malediction, and discovering that there are just not enough anti-Trump Republicans to win him a swing-state primary,” he said. “I think his chances in states that strongly supported Trump are vanishingly small.”
Mocking the idea that Mr. Christie’s message is penetrating, Mr. Trump this week blasted out a link to a headline from Brietbart.com that read “Exclusive: Donald Trump Already Sold 100,000 Copies of Book, 50 Times More than Chris Christie Book.”
Two days earlier, Mr. Trump shared another report from the Daily Mail that Mr. Christie had at that point sold a “paltry 2,289 copies.”

We can all pretend he wasn’t on the debate stage in 2015. I guess since he got 1% it’s not that hard to forget. Look how the media loves him right now when 2 years ago Mr. Bridge couldn’t buy a good story. Oh yea, they also loved him in 2012...October ish.
What is with your obsession over this irrelevant nobody?
Steam locomotive?
A non-stop High Speed Train is a more apt
description :-) The man is busy in saving
a nation. Perhaps, the world’s civilization.
No time for idle prattle. Unlike James Bond,
there’s no time for stopping to enjoy fun and games.
BTW, there’s no getting around Christie.
Like Humpty Dumpty, the best
alternative is to just give him a shove, see that
he’s fallen (breaking into bits and pieces),
then move on.
This joker is going to mess up the Republican chances in 2024 if he tries running. He has no concept of how he is thought of by the general public. He could cause them to possibly lose a lot. He is a total clown. He has no chance of winning anything. Just let him try!
DeSantis needs to remain in Florida or Florida will be lost. Then it won’t matter what Republican runs for President. They won’t win without Florida.
We have long ago moved past you Fat Man.
Trump is here to stay.
Then it is Trump. DeSantis did say that he intended to serve the people of Florida; at the time he said this it seemed very much he wanted to serve two terms as Governor.
It would be extremely odd that DeSantis and Trump would not in some way coordinate their strategies. My money is that if one of them runs for president the other will not enter the primary races. There would be no point in having a bloody battle when it is imperative the Democrats must be defeated in 2024.
What, and replace “Orange Man” with “Ectomorph Man?” I think not. Orange Man is a mensch of the highest chutzpah and love of country.
Sheesh, Christie, I got it the 33rd time you said it. If anyone needs to move on from Trump…it’s Christie.
Chris Christy is nothing but a lazy slob that is worse than Biden, Clintons, and every lib put together...
It’s not Trump. It is the movement that a Trump sparked. Christie isn’t bright enough to know.
No. It was already there. Trump was smart enough to see it.
