Prepper Ping - For those of you who may be interested
a H/T from Travis McGee
regarding a missive from reknowned Michael Yon ...

ClearCase_guy:" I am reminded of the USSR and it’s treatment of Ukraine during the Holodomor (early 1930s). Ukraine was the breadbasket of the Soviet Union.
They produced plenty of food.
But the Soviets wanted to crush the “Kulaks”, so they exported the food and people inside Ukraine starved. Millions died."

"Also, during the Irish Potato famine (1840s), Ireland was still exporting food to England. Who cares if the locals starve?"
If China needs food next year, will we export to them and let the Deplorables starve?"

(My Comment/tik) : With the announced shortage of fertilizer and having several nations embargoing their own fertilizer products, there is a known fertilizer shortage.
Might this be the canary in the coal mine ?
At least consider it !
OODA Loop

The problem is that in many US zones your harvest only in several months out of a year for the majority of crops

Living in Zone 9a-10, we have a different concern .....

What percentage of the US population live in cities, cities dependent upon the trucking industry for resupply? ALL of the trucking industry depends upon fuel, refined fossil fuel.

The anarchy will rise as soon as real shortages start to manifest, like dwindling fresh food supplies not being trucked into cities. When milk and milk products dwindle there will be gangs formed to forage the burbs. These aspects of American society are already feeling the coming shortfalls. A clutch of canned foods you can watch over with arms is better than growing gardens out back to be plundered by the sneaks.

Starvation and disease will do the job of reducing pressures on the burbs. After a ferw months it will again be safe to grow gardens out back ... the foragers will be dead or out of fuel to use for their raids.

Possibly. It’s more likely that EV semi’s will ‘save the day’ in order to gain more support for EV’s in general. https://www.autoweek.com/news/green-cars/a36201258/electric-semi-trucks-arrive/

I guess this means at some point in the next year the poorest people will cease being the most obese.

We had a global pandemic and people actually got fatter. That’s got to be a first.

We need to discover anti-gravity so we can lift the billions of humans off the Earth and send them to more liveable planets.

If we had anti-gravity we could just lift them out of
poverty...

I just watched “The Ashes in the Snow”. Worth the watch of another area was starved by the Commies that no-one has heard about. Same with the Holodomore. Never discussed. In fact.....the name doesn’t even show up in spell check.

Based on this book (which I want to get).

For those who are kind of laughing this off, the ChiComms have decided to stop selling us fertilizer, presumably so they can actually feed themselves instead, and our own President wants to sequester 1/3 of our lands from agricultural production for environ-MENTAL reasons.

So yeah, it can happen. #AmericanHolodomor

I am glad that China is investing in food. Why should I be upset about a country trying to better itself?

I do not put it past bill gates to buy up the farmland and then not farm it. He is a psychopath who desires complete control of the world.

The Svalbard Global Seed Vault is a liberal environmental doomsday stunt; like the Doomsday Clock (which is only brought up when a Republican is President).

You don't put all your seeds in one vault. If they were serious there would be multiple vaults on every continent. At this point in time seeds are plentiful and can easily and relatively cheaply be stored in multiple locations. Any dry, cool basement would do.

There has already been a water leak in this vault which put the seeds in danger.

Doesn’t explain their sudden vastly-increased interest.

Maybe they, unlike you, realize that the world is running out of food.
