I liked Edwin Meese and heard good things about him. An American.
A study of DOJ/FBI history shows an obvious trend of this agency being a political power unto itself. It has morphed into America’s KGB - a central government political vetting agency and ideological bureaucracy, operating under the guise of “law” and “domestic security.” Its getting worse every day
What Trump’s experience showed is what absolute power the DOJ have, and without a real loyalist at AG, a Presidency is finished before its begun.
Kennedy appointed his own brother. Reagan has his old friend Ed Meese, Obama had fellow travellers Holder and Lynch. He even made sure they were black for extra safety.
Who did Trump have? The wretched deep-state mole Jeff Sessions, who nearly destroyed Trump, and then a compromise-candidate and DOJ insider, William Barr.
I simply can’t see how any non-establishment, non-RINO President will ever control the DOJ again.

Ed Meese is someone I hadnt heard or thought about in decades.
Similar to Bob Dole.
If I remember correctly the left attempted to destroy him and President Reagan with some accusation about a pair of $100 cuff links. The story was in the news for months with demands for investigation, investigation, investigation.
Now billions of corrupt dollars passes through the hands of the first family and barely a peep.

I had the chance to converse with Gen. Meese at a dinner a couple years ago. My impression was that he is a very humble, very thoughtful and considerate gentleman.
