“The state of Israel refuses to recognize the Holodomor as a genocide.”
To clear the air a little, it seems that the Ukraine and Israel have some sort of economic/strategic partnership. Consequently, there are positive things today in Ukrainian/Israeli connections.
Nonetheless I find it truly wrongheaded that Israel and some prominent US Jews downplay the Holodomor. Before I heard the term “Holodomor,” I called it the Ukrainian holocaust. A government murders 6 million people, what else would you call it?
Following the links in the article one reads reasons why the Holodomor was supposedly not genocide. I learned a long time ago that there is a big difference between a reason, and a GOOD reason. All the arguments provided are lame, hairsplitting for reasons that are lame in their own right.
The article quotes Putin. Putin is one of the last persons I would like to quote. Nevertheless, Putin says the first Soviet Government was 80% to 85% Jewish. Others have also claimed a large Jewish role in the early days of communism.
As so often, the first question is “Is this true?” and the second is “What, if anything, are we to make of this?”
I don't think the problem is one group or another group of people. The problem is wrong ideas. Socialism is a wrong idea.
Certainly guilt is not inheritable. Today's Germans are not guilty of the Holocaust. Today's Jews are not responsible for Russian communism and its many holocausts. Today's Democrats are not responsible for slavery, segregation, or the trail of tears.
Firstly, we aren't dealing with Jews. We are dealing with excommunicated apostates to Judaism to a cult dedicated to the cultural genocide of Jews. These people were Jewish and working for Jewish interests the same way Stalin was a monk. They weren't. As a religion, Judaism was a crime in the Soviet Union. Stalin created a puppet Russian Orthodox Church, but the practice of Judaism was a crime until the late 1980s. Nazis claimed to be German nationalists and working for German nationalism. Communists were and are enemies of Jews. The comparison doesn't work.
