But who’s doing it? Seems many Australians (and Kiwis) are willing to put out that propaganda. They’re probably as desperate as some of us in US are.

It’s true, we need to have the TRUTH. Even if it hurts. Lies will get us nowhere.

But, frankly, never fully trust these government types. In the US they are fully enjoying this power grab. We haven’t gotten yet to gulags and firing squads, but with so many closet commies/traitors amongst us, we must guard against it!

I don’t trust government either and I am very actively involved with dealing with the real problems that currently exist in Australia, and have existed throughout the pandemic, caused by government overreach.

But when things get exaggerated, or worse, just made up, it actually makes it harder for us to address the real issues.

Yes, there are some Australians who are helping to spread misinformation. There are various reasons for that. Some of them are just not that well educated, or are ignorant of particular circumstances - for example, there’s a lot of fuss at the moment about an incident in the Northern Territory of Australia - very few Australians, especially those in large cities like Melbourne and Sydney (and Australia is one of the most urbanised countries in the world - we idolise the outback as a culture, but few people live there) understand what conditions are like in that underpopulated desert territory and why things that work elsewhere won’t necessarily work there, meaning they are forced to do things differently. Others are probably deliberately spreading propaganda. I can’t prove it but I think most of this propaganda is coming out of China originally - the Chinese government trying to split Australia from the United States, but also trying to make a democracy seem like it’s the one that violates people’s human rights, rather than China being that type of place (and the number of times I’ve seen on FR, people saying things like “Australia is worse than China” might bear that out to an extent). The thing is, Australia does have a significant number of socialists - and while not all of them are going to be willing to act as mouthpieces for world socialism, some certainly are.
