“FYI “cold” and “coronavirus” are not the same thing, there are quite a few colds (60-70% of them) that AREN’T caused by coronaviri.”

I believe that there have been 2 Corona viruses that have been around forever and cause approximately 25% of what we call the common cold. The Rhino viruses of which there are a few hundred, cause the other 75% of common colds. The Corona viruses are more likely to end up in your chest as opposed to the head cold.

SARS 1 was from the first new Corona viruses and now we have SARS 2 (we are told). SARS and COVID are not the names of the viruses but the syndromes and diseases they cause.

So yes, Corona Viruses are COLD viruses. Corona viruses have been a cause of viral pneumonia as have influenza viruses. Ever heard the phrase “there is a nasty chest cold going around.”?

I’m not arguing that coronaviri don’t cause colds, I’m saying they aren’t the sole (or even majority) cause, which is what the graphic implies.

There are four common-cold coronavirus variants that infect humans. Rhinoviri generally cause about 50-60% of colds, than the rest is filled in with RSV, parainfluenza, adenoviri, and 100s of others. As well as some colds that have no detectable/identified cause.
