Anyone else eat pie from their own pumpkins, and not the canned stuff?

I’ve been using my own pumpkin for cooking but alas, cannot eat it.

Sorry you can’t eat it, my pies worked out surprisingly well.

Little by little I’ve been burying my dead plants with food scraps. Bought seeds for next year before prices go even higher. Also growing strawberries indoors for transplant in spring. The fun doesn’t have to end!

Me! I grew 'Sugar Pie' this past season. They're small, but very 'meaty' and one pumpkin makes a pie.
I was too full to have any on T-Day, so I had a slice for Breakfast the next morning. ;) We finished off the last two slices last night.

I love that picture!
Survived Turkey Day. We have out-of-state visitors tomorrow morning for a few hours and then ...... PEACE. No cooking, no cleaning, no big garden work (a few small things). I can finish up my Christmas presents for the kids ... looking forward to it (knitted stocking, horse blankets for my $1.00 yard sale finds).
My 21 lb turkey turned out delicious .... meat literally fell off the bone. After somehow being mistaken for a 12 lb candidate for the smoker, it got a few hours of unexpected brining, but was none the worse for wear :-) I suspect several glasses of wine were ‘in play’ leading to mistaking a 21 lb bird for a 12 lb bird. Bottom line from Thursday, a good time was had by all.
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Day. ~Q

“Bought seeds for next year before prices go even higher.”
Right now there are sales galore! I’ve been sent e-mails from Johnny’s and Rene’s Garden, so I’ll be shopping those sites and more. Catalogs will be arriving sooner than soon! Yay!
“The fun doesn’t have to end!”
Exactly! I’ll share some of my projects later this week. Wisconsin continues to have a relatively warm Fall, with strings of days that are REALLY cold, but all in all, the longer the snow stays away, the shorter the Winter will feel.

I grew sweet potatoes too, first time, and my goodness, talk about bang for the buck!

We bought an 18 lb turkey for 19 cents a lb yesterday. It’s in the freezer. #1 son is bringing me a grow light for the basement so I can start planting early.

One of my projects for this week is to cook up a pot of kohlrabi/green bean/bacon soup and freeze in meal-sized containers.
Soup is good winter food.
