I once heard a story in China - in 1949, when the communists were pushing south and fought their way into Shandong Province, the political commissars asked Mao and the politburo for guidance - who are the “capitalists” and Kulaks here?

After much consideration and Mao’s dictum that 10% of people were hopeless capitalists, it was decided that anyone who owned a pig was a kulak, and should be eliminated.
