The US is starved for computer chips. In response, TI is building a new chip plant in Sherman, TX, and Samsung has announced a chip plant in Taylor, TX, which is a suburb of Austin. It will take a while to get the plants up and running, but it is a great sign of companies seeing that it is no longer profitable to rely on an Asian provider of products.
Let’s help them with a really high PROTECTIVE import tariff on all imported electronics. Go America!!
Would you even care?...
It's not a problem!!! It is a great opportunity for American prosperity and SURVIVAL.
No flaming from me. Texas has made several moves that address the power supply situation some good, some not so good. One thing they have not done is reduce the ridiculously high (percentage wise) reliance on ‘green’ sources of power. Almost all of those failed during the freeze-out. Texas seriously needs to build a few more nukes and to cut the windmill population in half.
I agree. I’m glad companies are shifting production back to the U.S. The problem I was referring to is that this can’t be done faster. China is sitting there watching a big part of its potential leverage evaporate. Will that prompt China to rash action while it still has a production chokehold? I hope not, but it increases the risk.
Who’s responsible for not allowing TX juice to be sold to states that wet their own beds like CA? They deserve a lot of credit.
They were made here before they sent it all to China. They were priced right and the foundries were making good money. They just wanted to squeeze for more profit, even though they already had a monopoly.
They’re pricking the right side in the upcoming Great Divide, too.
We should make macro economic decisions on what is best for the USA and its Workers/tax payers because they come first. We should not make decisions base on what China or any other GD country is going to do or not do.
Merchants have no country. The mere spot they stand on does not constitute so strong an attachment as that from which they draw their gains.

This is why there is politics. Sometimes the body politic has to make decisions that are not in the best interest of business but in the best interest of the general population’s prosperity and security.. Tariffs are one of those things. Having an indigenous industrial base is another. Limiting immigration to keep wages from falling onto the toilet is yet another example
Oh, if only we had politicians who gave a damn about the welfare of their Nation.
That is one. Not too many other with any backbone.
Great TJ quote you posted!!
