...One teacher had a “sexual relationship” with a student, Martinez said. Another teacher groomed a student and, once she turned 18 and graduated, immediately began a sexual relationship with her, he said. A volunteer groomed multiple students, he said.

Martinez said there was “not more than a dozen” students who were victims but could not provide a specific number.

The investigation took so long because CPS’ office of the inspector general had a backlog of cases and staffing issues, he said.

And the cases will be hard to prosecute due to the laws in Illinois, Martinez said. Loopholes allow adults to groom children so long as a “sexual relationship” does not begin until they’re legally adults — and those loopholes need to be closed, he said.

“As of today, it is not illegal to be grooming students,” Martinez said. “As of today, it is not illegal for staff to wait for students to turn 18 to have sexual relationships. … That’s what exists today. … These are loopholes that exist today.”

We lived there because we were missionary types. All the world was there, especially on the North Side.

There is an assumption in America (probably everywhere) that they couldn’t be lied to because, well, it just wouldn’t be allowed, right?

This carries over into all aspects of life. It has never been more true in “education”. They recall how it was in “their” day and simply CAN NOT BELIEVE that things have changed. And “educators” today do their very best to maintain that stupor and deny access to what is REALLY going on. I know. I was a teacher. They tried to convert me to their beliefs and I refused. Eventually, they broke my health and I retired.

Nobody (outside of education) believed me when I told them what was happening. I was a lone voice and unsupported. EVERYTHING I saw developing has NOW made the news and still, most will not believe it.

Nobody wants to believe this is happening or that they can be CONSISTENTLY lied to and the perpetrators will get away with it. This is America, after all, right?

Seems like that is pretty standard everywhere no? Is it really “grooming” if you don’t have any intent to have sex with a minor? It may be skeevy as hell, but it’s not illegal.
