“ No, it isn't. Males get filled with hormonal rage every rut--during deer season--and do lots of weird and dangerous things to themselves.” ——————————————————————————————— Whitetail Deer, not so much “rage”………Elk on the other hand, oh yeah. You clearly are an expert so you know that by the time Michigan Firearms Deer season begins on November 15th, the Deer are about all done with this year’s Rut.
This guy came running up to my house the morning of the November 15…..despite 3 large German Shepherds going nuts in the fenced in area. Around 10am in daylight. These beast, Elk are aggressive year round but even more so during Rut which begins for them in Sept.
That little thing off to the side of the Bull Elk is a full size Whitetail Doe. I saved this picture because it shows the huge difference in size between Elk and Deer.
Small younger Elk. Whitetail Bucks, same location, during Rut.
I live in a forest in Northern Michigan.
Why does the whitetail rut start/end so early in Northern Michigan? The official peak rut start date here in Pa was
12Nov this year. Would be interested to know why. Thanks
