Hey Petey, what cooking oils are you using? Try to switch to healthy fats such as EVOO, coconut oil, avocado oil, and grass-fed organic butter (Kerrygold Irish or other European butters). It's very important to stay away completely from Canola or Vegetable oil (consists of mostly Canola/rape seed oil). No corn oil either. Avoid conventional bottled salad dressings and mayos. Cooking sprays such as Pam are just rape seed oil, so avoid. For baking, there is an avocado/coconut/safflower blend called Chosen Blend Oil by Chosen Foods that does not have a strong coconut taste. Look for a shortening that is made from palm oil. (It's not evil as they have claimed! Plus, it's shelf stable.) The brand I use is Nutiva Organic shortening and you can find it at your organic/crunchy hippie stores (Whole Paycheck, Sprouts, Sunflower Markets, Natural Grocers, etc.) Replace conventional peanut butters (Jif, Skippy, etc.) with fresh-pressed nut butters and try almond, cashew, hazelnut. Trader Joe's sells a yummy raw almond butter.

The coconut oil is super important for protecting the brain. I know people who take it by the tablespoon. I haven't been able to do that, but you can make a fudge using coconut oil, raw cacao and Stevia... you can find recipes online. If you cut it into small squares, you can have 1-2 pieces a day and get your good fats in while having a sweet chocolate treat. (Each square is worth about 1 tablespoon coconut oil.) Also put avocado on everything. Straight up avocado is better than processed guac from the store. A very crunchy friend of mine puts salt on a half an avocado and just spoons it like yogurt for a snack. I dice it and put it on scrambled eggs with salsa, throw it in smoothies, etc.

This is just another example of how the FDA has done so much damage. People who went on no fat/low fat diets on doctor's recommendations and find their cholesterol only getting worse should try reversing their recommendations and taking in GOOD fats and as many as they can tolerate. You will find it balances your mood also.

Have you been tested for MTHFR gene mutations?

I only cook with olive oil. I have coconut oil, but I forget about it. We only eat grass fed butter. I try to stay away from corn anything really, it’s so inflammatory. Not a peanut butter fan. Can’t do almond anything.

I like that fudge idea. I’m there!!! Hahahaha. That would also give me my chocolate fix!!!! I’m SO EXCITED, thank you lol.

I eat avocado almost every day.

I don’t do low fat anything and drink raw milk. Love my dairy here. They are amazing.

But lest you think I’m some incredible amazing eater.. I love sugar. I love MM’s. I’m trying to cut down. I really am, on my sugar. It’s giving my stomach fits these days, which gives my heart fits. Roemheld Syndrome. Fits lots of my heart palp symptoms!

I like salads, fruit is evil lol. I do like an apple/orange/banana fruit salad with healthy cool whip hahahahahha (teasing about cool whip being healthy, but I could make coconut whip, I have coconut cream). It’s too cold here for fruit smoothies right now. But I’ll throw in a cutie orange thing in my chicken salad at lunch, if my stomach can handle that.

Part of my cholesterol problem is Hashimoto’s and hereditary. My grandma’s was over 300, my dad’s (but he lowered his with drugs), both my sisters are 300+. Older sister isn’t a sugar eater, younger sister and I are!

And we aren’t big people either. We eat fish a couple of times a week, chicken, pork, and red meat. Veggies at dinner. No grains at dinner. Rarely at lunch. Oatmeal or gluten free cereal at breakfast. I might have a Bobo’s bite for snack. Sometimes a banana, maybe an apple. I like dates!

I hope I don’t sound like I’m making excuses... but I’m mostly doing all those things anyway. (minus the evil MM’s)

Petey
