GOP defeats Obama-endorsed candidate in deep blue city that Biden won handily in 2020

An endorsement from former President Obama and House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn in reliably blue Columbia, South Carolina was not enough to push the city’s Democratic mayoral candidate over the finish line.

Republican mayoral candidate Daniel Rickenmann, a businessman and Columbia city council member, defeated Democrat Tameika Isaac Devine by a margin of 52% to 48% on Tuesday night in Columbia which sits in a county that President Biden carried by almost 40 points in 2020.

Former President Obama, according to Washington Free Beacon, released an audio message in support of Devine and the former president carried the city’s county by 29 points in 2008 and 33 points in 2012.

Rep. Clyburn, one of the most prominent Democrats in both the South and the Black community who many believe saved President Biden’s flailing 2020 campaign with his endorsement, also endorsed Devine.

Biden didn’t win anything ‘handily’

The more this goes on the more the nazicRATs rush to get their agenda over the line before the next election.

Very dangerous time for this country.

Biden didn’t win anything ‘handily’

Mostly "underhandedly"

Biden didn’t carry anything by 40%. That explains the discrepancy.

I live just outside of Columbia in Forest Acres.

Amazing indeed.

No FA resident could vote in the city election but a lot of signs for him.

The local news stations are probably devastated and wringing their hands.

I haven’t seen any and seldom watch.

My friend, a man, says moms are getting furious with the crap taught in schools like CRT, rose up and crossed party lines to get rid of the Dims.

If it was a success, the GOP had little to do with it...

I am not comfortable with being on the “red” team. The media switched the colors to hide their association with communism. “Red wave” is just a little too commie-sounding for me. And also— I fear these are just RINOs that are being elected, not people who really support the Constitution as written.

Well, if the democrat had been the winner, the people of the city would have been the losers. People in blue cities should realize by now that they can’t win with progressive democrats, who are now socialists and communists.

I believe it. My wife and I are long past the kids in school age. But, she says the Dems are absolutely crazy, politically speaking, to enrage parents who are just trying to get their kids an un-indoctrinated education.

Merrick Garland lying about using FBI tracking on parents at school board meetings is over the top. I hope that the media and the GOP keep reminding parents about it.

Even if you are a suburban Mom turned off by Trump's rudeness, the alternative here is far, far worse. Impoliteness versus outright abuse of your children? Not even close.

The Nazi-crats will simply double and triple down on their Marxist bs. They don’t care anymore, they’re running the country and they know when Republicans get back in control they won’t reverse anything.

That’s why I don’t believe Biden won. You can’t win by what...40% and then have a Democrat lose by 4% later.

IMO, Clyburn's endorsement of Biden was the cover for fraud in the Democrat primary, in 2016.
