Lots of states have bow season, firearm (smokeless) season, and some have a muzzleloader season.
Reference to the allowed weapon is pretty common in those states.
All total I can bag something like 14 deer (only three antlered bucks though). Already have a doe and a 4 point in the freezer. One of my sons bagged his first bear in Virginia's early muzzleloader season last week. “Traditional” opening rifle season in WV next Monday, then up to Pennsylvania for opening day Saturday after Thanksgiving.
As a landowner in WV I don't need any license or tags to hunt my own land, and my $25 Senior license covers me for Buck and Bear everywhere else in WV.
Yet with almost every one hunting in WV there is no way the doe population can be reduced to a proper size and bears always remain a borderline nuisance despite heavy hunting including with dogs in many counties.
