Is this newspeak? I can only remember that it was called “hunting season”.

I always simply assumed that there was also a "Crossbow Deer Hunting Season" from which "Firearm Deer Hunting Season" should be distinguished.

I dunno, maybe there's also a "Causing Herds of Deer to Stampede Off a Cliff Season."
