Despite its moniker as a “bipartisan infrastructure bill,” the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act contains no conservative victories but has many leftist carveouts.
President Joe Biden signed the $1.2 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act into law, marking Biden’s most significant legislative victory since Congress passed his coronavirus rescue plan in March, the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan.
This infrastructure bill serves as one part of Biden’s infrastructure agenda. The other bill, the $1.75 trillion reconciliation Build Back Better Act, would fund “human infrastructure,” expanding American welfare programs and climate change policies.
Biden, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and other Democrats have compared his Build Back Better legislative agenda to the New Deal and the Great Society programs even though Democrats have scaled down the Build Back Better Act from $3.5 to $1.75 trillion.

Everyone seems to be forgetting that the billions from the gas tax was supposed to be used for highway construction and maintenance. Also, the 1972 gas shortage that produced rationing of gas also saw the gov’t start collecting an Alternative Fuels Tax, which was supposed to support research for alternative fuels. Strange...I don’t see any of those alternative fuels. Instead, Congress thought it was a better idea to give away free cell phones so they could get reelected. Seems unfair that my Mom paid Social Security taxes for 42 years, retired, and died two months later. Guess who kept the money. Now, some illegal alien gets to spend her money...provided Congress does steal the rest of it for more cell phones. Kinda seems to me that we need to kick all of them to the curb.

I did the math on what I contributed PLUS, and most people forget this, the matching contribution employers must contributes. I need to live to 137 years of age just to get back the present value of what we’ve contributed, never mind what it could have earned had I managed it.
Had I been allowed to fund my own retirement at an average 3% return, that same amount would have been $1.8 million when I retired. When Bush tried to privatize SS, people said “I don’t want the responsibility”. The US is raising a herd of economic idiots.
Ethanol was available long before the 1972 energy crisis.
