I found it interesting looking at the list of android phones which will no longer be able to handle the new 5G network, there were hundreds of them.

But on the Apple side, any Apple phone 6 and above will handle the 5G crossover.

I personally have a newer android which will work on the 5G network.

Yup my mom says she’s too old to learn how to use a new phone so she told me to get her a landline when her 3G service stops.

Millions of phones and devices to be thrown out for no good reason. All having to be replaced. How good is that for the environment? Hypocrites.

I knew a gut that had one years ago who used to call his truckers miles and miles away on one.

I have no idea what he had for a set up.

We had CB’s. You could talk states away from you if “skip” was running. Otherwise you needed an illegal amplifier. LOL I don’t think amps are illegal now but they were.

Hmmm, I better take a look at the wife’s iPad. It’s getting long in the tooth.

Yikes! Amps ARE still illegal!

There are several additional things to consider when using a CB device, including:

You may not raise the power output of a CB transmitter.
You may not attach a "linear," "linear amplifier" or any other type of power amplifier to your CB transmitter.
There are no height restrictions for antennas mounted on vehicles or for hand-held devices.
For structures, the highest point of your antenna must not be more than 20 feet above the highest point of the building or tree on which it is mounted, or 60 feet above the ground. There are lower height limits if your antenna structure is located within two miles of an airport.
You may use an on-the-air pseudonym ("handle") of your choosing.
You must at all times and on all channels, give priority to emergency communications.

Yup. As has been pointed out, there’s going to be a lot of tech in the trash.

As long as someone is transmitting, they can be tracked. The signal gets stronger as you get closer and the antenna is a dead giveaway.

If you get mad at someone, you can put a straight pin in their coax and they can't transmit. A pin is hard to spot.

This will bring about the return of the landline as a backup or even primary telephone whereas many had those shut down....

Not likely. I know I'll never go back to a landline. Most people will simply get a new phone that has 4G and 5G. Anyone using a phone that tops out at 3G needs to come into the 21st century.

They're hoping most do it so that they can track them.

All phones since 1990 are easily traced.
