Yep, headphones are a bad idea walking down the street . You lose out on situational awareness when you have ears plugged up, and/or playing with a cellular phone as you walk. She may well have been targeted specifically because she looked like an easy mark.
Walking anywhere with headphones is insane to me. You must be able to hear at all time.
