Jon Gruden Is Suing Roger Goodell And The NFL
Daily Caller ^ | 11/12/2021 | David Hookstead

According to Tom Pelissero, Gruden is suing the league and commissioner Roger Goodell alleging that his career was ruined through “malicious and orchestrated campaign.”

Former #Raiders coach Jon Gruden is suing the NFL and Roger Goodell in Nevada district court, alleging they sought to destroy Gruden’s career and reputation through a “malicious and orchestrated campaign” that led to his resignation last month, Gruden’s attorney tells me.

Gruden resigned as the head coach of the Raiders after his old emails containing offensive language were leaked to the media.

The NFL has refused to release the 650,000 other emails tied to the WTF investigation. For those of you keeping score at home, Jon Gruden appears to be the only one punished in an investigation he had no role in.

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that I’m glad Gruden is suing the NFL. His email scandal has failed to pass the smell test ever since the first day we heard about it.

Nothing about this situation adds up, and fans deserve the truth. We deserve to know how Gruden’s emails leaked and who leaked them.

The coach deserves a nine figure settlement.

When Republicans have the power, the NFL's anti-trust exemption must end.

When did the NFL get anti trust exemption? Years ago it was my understanding only MLB had it. The other leagues didn’t.

Would have been nice if Gruden had not resigned and resisted the cancel culture stormtroopers. Virtually anyone can be “cancelled” based on things and attitudes said and held over a lifetime. Funny how people on the Left are never held accountable for their speech and actions. This attack on liberty, free speech and thought must be stopped.

Selective leaking of non-relevant, to the Redskin investigation, private emails from ten years ago that did not seem to indicate what the press said they were. (More like bad jokes.)

Vindictive leaks were likely due to criticism of Roger. Maybe if the award is large enough the owners will fire Roger.

Less well understood, however, is that the National Football League retains its own federal exemption through legislation that has allowed the league’s teams to cooperate on television contracts—a gift from Washington that has been crucial to the development of the modern NFL.

I agree that they’ll settle out of court to avoid discovery. If it’s a large sum I would think it would get Goodell fired. But the owners love him for some strange reason.

Their liability insurance will cover any settlement - Roger is unfortunately
going nowhere, no matter the outcome.
